Delta Alpha Chapter Ques
at 2022 MLK, Jr, March in Dayton

We are the home of the Delta Alpha Chapter (DA) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., otherwise known as the “GEM City Ques,” and it is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you to our website.

These are among the most trying times in the history of the world.  The pandemics of COVID-19 and global racism have challenged us to rethink our lives.  As you work to not simply survive but instead thrive during these unprecedented times, please stay safe.  You can do so by getting vaccinated, vetting your booster shot (if applicable), wear your mask, and practice social distancing for the sake of ourselves, our families, and our community.

It is also our collective responsibility to consider how we can join together to support minority-owned businesses, participate in community-enhancing philanthropic activities, and push back against racism.

We owe it to ourselves to be the best version of ourselves for our families and communities, and to progressively think and act beyond the narrow confines of our own households, always placing first God, then everything else.

Delta Alpha Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated has proudly and consistently served the Dayton Area since 1934. It is our commitment to continue to bring relevant community service projects in the areas of social action, education, economic empowerment, and health initiatives to ensure that the needs are met in the communities we serve and live. In support of our cardinal principles - Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift - we will remain consistent and committed to being leaders of positive and progressive social change.

We appreciate your interest in learning more about Delta Alpha and invite you to explore our website and let us know if you want to get involved. God bless you and your family. Long live The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc is the first Black fraternity founded on a historically Black college or university campus.  Its cardinal principles are manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift.  UPLIFT is about helping communities to thrive. We believe that our collective responsibility is to always lift as we climb.  With service as our watchword it is among the most important things we do in Delta Alpha chapter.

EDUCATION & OUTREACH

In Delta Alpha Chapter we are committed to improving life outcomes for our youth and one means of doing so is through education. This is by no means an easy feat, but through steady cooperation, innovative initiatives, and loyalty to community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. Every year we provide college scholarships, grade school mentoring, and community educational programs. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.

Achievement Week Banquet

November 17

Delta Alpha chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio culminated its annual achievement week festivities at a Founders Day Banquet at Sinclair Community College on Saturday, November 17.  The emcee was Past District Representative Bro. Jesse Junius. After an invocation, welcoming remarks, and a brief history by Bros. Robert Cannon, Basileus Robert Wilson, and Albert Jordan, respectively, the keynote speaker discussed four qualities of a man (courage, responsibility, resilience, and unselfish living) in an uplifting presentation.  The keynote was followed by the awarding of Chapter Scholarships and Commendations.  There were over one hundred guests in attendance.

DELTA ALPHA CELEBRATED ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE

March 12

Every year the unincorporated chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc celebrate and honor the lives of fraternity brothers who have passed in the last twelve months.  Like oak trees these brothers stood firmly throughout their lives.  They were men who cared about our cardinal principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance and uplift. They gave unselfishly to support communities in need. They stood resolutely and gave of their friendship even when it was challenging to do so. Delta Alpha Chapter honors those Omega men who lived nobly until the end!

GEM CITY QUES IN THE NEWS

Every November we celebrate Founders Day, since we were founded on November 17, 1911 at Howard University.  Rather than simply celebrate among ourselves we use this as another opportunity for community outreach and support, and host a week of activities the fraternity aptly calls "Achievement Week."  This name was coined at the 1920 Nashville Grand Conclave when Bro. Carter Godwin Woodson introduced what would later become known as Black History Month. It began as a week of events that would celebrate the achievements of Black people.  The fraternity continues this tradition during its founding month to honor Dr. Woodson and to celebrate the legacies of not only great Omega men but those who have advanced the Black community.
